Mini-FAQ

About this checker.

A lot. Research estimates that a majority of women with PCOS — including many at a lean weight — have some degree of insulin resistance. High insulin pushes the ovaries to make more androgens, which disrupts ovulation and drives many visible symptoms. It's the loop with the most levers.

Commonly: fasting glucose, fasting insulin (from which HOMA-IR is calculated), and HbA1c; sometimes an oral glucose tolerance test. None of these are exotic — but you often have to ask. The guide includes the exact phrasing.

A low score means fewer of the visible signals — not a clean lab panel. Lean PCOS with insulin resistance is well documented. If your cycles are irregular or symptoms persist, the labs are still worth a conversation.

Checkers are a guide. The Companion is the plan.

The insulin chapter alone covers the mechanism, the labs, and the daily levers — calmly and sourced.
